MISA
Metals, Inc., has recently commissioned a Herr-Voss Stamco high
production Strand Extensioner Slitting Line at their Middletown, Ohio
facility.
—MISA Metals,
Inc. has recently commissioned a new Precision Strand Extensioner®
Slitting Line from Herr-Voss Stamco®. The new line will incorporate the
latest technology and proven design durability, providing high
production rates and superior slit coil accuracy.
The line will process incoming coils up to 60,000# x 72" wide at a
maximum speed of 2000 FPM with a material thickness range of .012" to
.135" from 35,000 to 50,000 PSI yield strength. The system is designed
to handle incoming coils with IDs that range from 20" to 24".
Materials to be processed include aluminum, cold rolled, galvanized,
prepainted, exposed automotive, stainless steel and hot rolled P&O.
The line features the Herr-Voss Stamco Compu-Cut® Slitter along with an
industry leading double eccentric precision slitter head. The Compu-Cut
Slitter provides dual axis knife positioning of .0012" and set-up
changes of any combinations in less than 3 minutes.
The Strand Extensioner system includes a roll cleaning unit to quickly
clean rolls during product changeovers. The Strand Extensioner will
level with tension, equalize stresses, maintain critical material
surfaces and reduce burr in a safe highly productive operation.
Side trim scrap will be balled and collected by an automated elevator
which discharges them to a roll off dumpster.
The uncoiler, slitter and recoiler are all driven and both reels include
outboard bearings. The turret recoiler is designed to wind coils at 16",
20" and 24" ID. The design, along with the exit coil car mult restraint,
will allow MISA to offload coils immediately upon tailout, as all
banding will be done offline.
Herr-Voss Stamco is a leading designer and manufacturer of slitting,
cut-to-length, tension leveling, precision roller leveling and other
coil processing equipment.
Project has been completed as of October
1st and production is slowly staring up. See pics
